Peyton is 8 Months Old!

On his Aunt Tracey's birthday, Peyton turned 8 months old! Happy Birthday Tracey!

I must apologize for the lapse in posts (I've backfilled some posts for the past couple of weeks). The past month has been a bit crazy now that Peyton is crawling. He can really zip around.

Two weeks ago, Peyton mastered the art of standing up! He likes to crawl over to the entertainment center (with the mysterious shelves full of stuff that is trapped behind impenetrable doors - glass).

As you can see, he spends a lot of time here.

He still really loves to play with James' work badge (which we've affectionately named "Badgie").

Ruh, roh - he seems something that prompts him to climb up (but he can't).

He really enjoys playing with his activity center. He loves all the music, as well as the English and Spanish language sounds.

Another of his favorite things to do these days is sit by the floor register and wait for the warm air to blow up at him. While he waits, he likes to read books and play with his other toys.

I saved the biggest news for last - Peyton is showing signs of walking! Shortly after he started standing up, he started taking small steps.

And, here you'll see that he's getting close to standing up without support.

His language skills are really advancing as well.

So, as you can see, we've been staying pretty busy around here!

We go back to the doctor next month but for now, we're estimating his weight at about 20-21 pounds and his height at about 26 inches.

Sitting Up

As mentioned in my last post, I've had a difficult time capturing Peyton's ability to sit up by himself on film. Well, I finally managed to get a video of it this week.

Enjoy!

Peyton is Seven Months Old!

It's hard to believe, but Peyton is seven months old today! Our next doctor's appointment isn't until he's nine months old, so I don't have updated stats for you, but we can easily tell you that he's growing like a weed!

He's gotten really good at sitting up. He likes to reach for things too.

Peyton really loves books. He loves to flip through them too!

He still loves "Mr. Brown can Moo, Can You?" too.

As well as other books and toys.

We've had some chilly nights and mornings this week (high 20s at night, mid-40s in the morning), so I've been bundling him up before taking him to my Mom's in the mornings. His traditional Bolivian hat is coming in handy!

With his sweater on, we're ready to go!

As you can see in this video, James is really trying to make Peyton's first word be "Daddy". Peyton is getting closer to talking. He can sound out some consonants (b, g, m, p) and has some made up words (Abu - which is what he calls my Dad, his "Abuelo").

Random Pictures

Here are a few random pictures taken over the past couple of weeks.

This is Peyton in what we like to call his "private school uniform" - white onesie, blue pants/shorts. Prepping him for the future? :-)

Peyton loves his comfy Winnie-the-Pooh robe before baths.

Peyton is getting really good at sitting when propped up.

He's really focusing on something!

He also likes sitting in the corner of the couch.

More fun.

Peyton loves taking naps in his big crib!

James continues to style Peyton's hair after baths. You can see how long his hair is in this one!

Peyton at Three Months

Peyton is three months old today!

We don't go back to see Dr. Glinder until next month (and get another round of shots), so I don't have official stats for you. I estimate his weight at about 13-14 pounds now and his length at about 24 inches. He's getting so big!

Here's a picture with Grandma Nelida kind of showing his length.

His body is finally catching up to his mind's desired activity level too. He lvoes to play in his activity center. He managed to inch his way up a little bit after much work. We think he'll start crawling in the next couple of weeks! And, he really likes to stretch his legs, so we think he'll be an early walker (like his Dad). We've already started researching security gates and new wall plugs. :-)

He also has great neck and back control, so I propped him up into a sitting position. He enjoyed the new perspective from this position.

Peyton waking up from his morning nap. He's such a happy baby!

Here's a short video from last night. James was playing with him in his activity center. As you can see, he's talking up a storm!

And here's a video of Peyton playing with his Baby Einstein star toy which he loves.
